Skagit Community Foundation, a local nonprofit that offers financial support to local community contributors, is holding a Celebration of Skagit Philanthropy event in LaConner on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022. We will be attending as a show of gratitude for the grant given EWM last year which helped us purchase equipment used for the local biannual Free Vision Clinics held in the NCSDA Church.

Another fantastic medical mission trip in the books! Jamaica, with its lovely weather and beautiful people, is one of our favorite places to go and serve the underserved. Access to eye care is very limited in this country that has a total of 43 ophthalmologists (an average of 1 per 67,000 people).

Our surgeons and support team were able to contribute 116 cataract surgeries in the week we were there. It’s always a joy to help the blind see, and to rejoice in the gift of sight with the patients as their eyepatches are removed the day after their procedures!
